My Story

a poem contributed by a community member....

All I can remember was being pushed inside a closet,
his hands on my neck.
I bit my tongue,
felt blood on my throat,
choking with my own tears.

All is a blur.
Pushed you to the door to close it
but you pushed me back ,
dragged me
and slammed me on the wall.
Kicked me and punched me,
grabbed my breast
and you still want me to answer you.

In this marriage of ours, violence is the 'prelude to a kiss'.

Walking away is not the answer…

FOR NOW.

But.
I dream of
an island unknown,
a man unknown,
a love familiar,
a new beginning for patiently enduring,
waiting for a suspended dream.
